What is a VBAC?
VBAC stands for Vaginal Birth After Cesarean — a vaginal delivery following a previous C-section. With proper medical guidance, body preparation, and emotional support, many women can safely experience a VBAC. It’s not just about giving birth differently — it’s about trusting the body’s natural ability again.
The Story
Over the past few weeks at Advance Core Physical Therapy & Wellness, we’ve had the joy of supporting two amazing mothers who both achieved successful VBAC deliveries — one through a spontaneous birth and one through an induced labor due to high blood pressure.
Both had toddlers around two years old at home and wanted to feel more connected, calm, and confident in their bodies this time. They came to therapy not just to prepare physically, but to create space for breathing, mindfulness, and trust.
Our Approach
Each mother’s preparation was personalized — focused on restoring balance, mobility, and confidence in the pelvic region.
Together, we worked on:
- Breathing and relaxation techniques to regulate tension and support labor flow
- Low-pressure strategies to minimize pelvic strain
- Ball and positioning exercises to promote optimal baby alignment and comfort
- Perineal massage and mobility training to enhance flexibility and tissue readiness
- Partner participation — teaching husbands how to assist with positioning, gentle pressure, and emotional support
Each mother’s preparation was personalized — focused on restoring mobility, balance, and confidence throughout the entire body.
Together, we worked on:
- Breathing and relaxation techniques to guide contractions and release tension
- Low-pressure strategies to protect the pelvic floor and prevent straining
- Birth ball and positioning exercises to promote alignment and comfort
- Perineal and fascial mobility to enhance flexibility and readiness
- Partner participation — teaching husbands how to assist with positioning, counterpressure, and emotional support
We emphasized not straining or forceful pushing, but allowing the body to open and lift naturally through breath, alignment, and relaxation.
Encouraging pelvic mobility and ensuring joint, fascial, and shoulder mobility throughout the kinetic chain are essential — because birth is a whole-body event.
Just like training for a marathon, preparing for birth takes consistency, awareness, and movement. A mobile body moves with ease — and a balanced body supports a confident birth.
Both mothers went on to deliver calmly and naturally, with minimal pushing and a strong connection between breath, body, and movement. Each contraction became a moment of trust rather than fear.
Partner Support in Action
Birth is a shared journey. Both partners learned how to protect and support the mother — physically and emotionally — using body positioning, counterpressure, and grounding touch. This teamwork helped create a calm and connected birth environment that allowed labor to unfold smoothly and naturally.
💬 Testimonial Highlight
“I couldn’t have done it without Advance Core PT. Dr. Daniela and her team gave me the tools, confidence, and calm I needed. Breathing through each contraction, feeling supported by my husband, and knowing my body was ready changed everything.
Three contractions — and she was out! After my first C-section, I never thought this was possible. Thank you for helping me believe in myself again.”
